This is a computer readable microchip which can be painlessly inserted under the skin, your pets identity is recorded for life on a national register. If your pet ever gets lost. he or she can be traced back to you by any of the animal shelters or vets who have the scanning equipment.

Identity microchips will be required for the new "pet passport" scheme being introduced by the government to take the place of quarantine.
