Our pets age more rapidly than we do and although the old "seven years of a dogs life equals one of ours" is not strictly speaking correct, it is sensible to have your pet checked regularly to keep him or her in peak health.  It is our normal procedure to conduct the health check at the same time as the annual booster vaccination.   This is the ideal time for us to detect and advise you of any actual or impending health problems.  We can also offer advice at this stage regarding routine worming, flea control, nutrition and preventative dental care.

As our pets get older they become more prone to ill health and we recommend that your elderly pet has a more regular check up.

A blood test to screen for underlying disease in the major organs of the body is recommended as part of your pets geriatric check up.  There is no fixed age at which a pet becomes geriatric, it depends on the breed and genetic make up.  Please ask your Vet about this at your next health check.
